How PDF Tools: Editor & Converter is built

An overview of the application's current architecture, drawn directly from its technical audit. This page does not claim any formal security certification.

No certifications claimed

AlexaMods Labs does not claim ISO certification, SOC 2, GDPR certification, HIPAA compliance, or any similar certification for this application, as none have been independently verified.

Local processing

PDF processing uses the iText library and runs locally on your device. The application does not use a networking library such as Retrofit or Ktor for document handling, and does not operate an app-controlled cloud document-processing backend.

On-device OCR

Text recognition uses Google ML Kit, configured to run on-device. The application does not intentionally upload scanned images or extracted OCR text to an app-operated cloud server for OCR processing.

Permission minimization

CAMERA is requested for document scanning. File access uses Android's Storage Access Framework and the system file picker rather than broad storage permissions.

Backup configuration

The application manifest sets android:allowBackup="false", intended to prevent Android Auto Backup from automatically backing up application data through the Android backup mechanism.

Third-party transparency

Google AdMob provides advertising, and Google UMP manages applicable advertising consent. Both operate independently of the application's own document-processing functionality and are disclosed in full in the Privacy Policy.

Ongoing scope

This page reflects the application's architecture as of the effective date below. It will be updated if functionality or third-party services change.

  • The application is not described as "100% secure."
  • The application is not described as "unhackable."
