These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and AlexaMods Lab ("we," "us," "our") governing your download, installation, and use of ScanLens: QR Scanner (package name com.alexamodslab.scanlens), distributed through Google Play.
By downloading, installing, or using ScanLens, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.
ScanLens is a general-audience utility app. By using the app, you represent that you are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, or that you have the permission of a parent or legal guardian to do so. The app does not knowingly target or collect personal information from children under 13; see our Privacy Policy's Children's Privacy section for details.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, AlexaMods Lab grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, personal license to download and use ScanLens on Android devices that you own or control, solely for your own personal, non-commercial use.
This license does not grant you any ownership interest in the app. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by AlexaMods Lab.
ScanLens lets you:
- Scan QR codes and barcodes using your device's camera, powered by CameraX.
- Scan QR codes and barcodes contained in images you select from your device.
- View, copy, and share the decoded results of a scan.
- Open URLs found in scan results directly from the app.
- Maintain a local scan history stored only on your device.
You are solely responsible for:
- The codes, images, and content you choose to scan.
- Any action you take based on a scan result, including opening a URL, dialing a number, or connecting to a network.
- Keeping your device secure, including its lock screen, operating system updates, and app permissions.
- Complying with all applicable laws when using the app.
You agree to use ScanLens only for lawful, personal purposes consistent with its intended function as a QR code and barcode scanning utility. You agree not to interfere with the app's normal operation or attempt to circumvent any technical protections it employs.
You agree not to:
- Use ScanLens for any illegal, fraudulent, or malicious purpose, including scanning or distributing codes intended to phish, deceive, or harm others.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except to the extent such restriction is expressly prohibited by applicable law.
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the app.
- Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices on the app.
- Use automated means (bots, scripts) to interact with the app in a way not intended for a human user.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the app, its ad services, or the devices of other users.
- Use the app to violate the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
You acknowledge that AlexaMods Lab has no control over the origin, ownership, or intent behind any code you scan. Scanning a code and acting on its content — including visiting a website, dialing a number, connecting to Wi-Fi, or adding a contact — is done entirely at your own discretion and risk.
While ScanLens is designed to decode QR codes and barcodes accurately, scanning results can be affected by lighting conditions, camera quality, code damage, print resolution, or image quality. We do not guarantee that every scan will be successful or that decoded results will always be error-free.
You should independently verify any critical information (such as payment details, links, or contact information) obtained through a scan before relying on it.
ScanLens keeps a history of your decoded scans stored locally on your device only. We do not access, back up, or synchronize this history to any server. You are responsible for managing this history, including deleting entries you no longer want, and for the security of your own device where this history resides.
Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage from Android Settings will remove this local history. AlexaMods Lab has no ability to recover history that has been deleted or lost this way, since no copy is kept off-device.
ScanLens, including its name, logo, user interface, design, and underlying code (excluding third-party and open-source components), is the property of AlexaMods Lab and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights, title, and interest in the app remain with AlexaMods Lab.
Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you, except the limited license expressly described in Section 03.
ScanLens uses third-party and open-source libraries, including but not limited to CameraX and code-scanning libraries used to detect QR codes and barcodes, along with the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform SDK. Each such component remains governed by its own original license terms, which take precedence over these Terms with respect to that specific component.
Copies of applicable open-source license notices are available upon request by contacting us using the details in Section 28.
ScanLens is supported by advertising delivered through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). By using the app, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Advertisements may be displayed within the app.
- Ad content is selected and served by Google, and AlexaMods Lab does not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content of individual ads or the third-party sites/apps they may link to.
- AdMob may process limited technical and advertising identifiers as described in our Privacy Policy.
Where legally required, ScanLens presents a consent form built on Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) so you can choose whether to allow personalized advertising. By interacting with this form, you agree that your selection will be honored by the app's advertising components until you change it. You can revisit this choice at any time from the app's Settings.
Decoded scan results may contain URLs, and ScanLens lets you open these directly. These links point to third-party websites that are not owned, operated, reviewed, or controlled by AlexaMods Lab. We are not responsible for the content, security, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party website or service you access through a scanned link, and opening any such link is entirely at your own risk.
You agree not to use ScanLens in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair your device, our advertising partners' infrastructure, or any network to which your device connects. This includes not attempting to inject malicious code, exploit vulnerabilities, or use the app's network calls for purposes other than its intended ad-delivery and consent functions.
We take reasonable measures appropriate to a locally-operating utility app to protect ScanLens's code and functionality. However, no app or device is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your own device, including keeping your Android OS updated and using device-level protections such as screen locks.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AlexaMods Lab disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that scan results will always be accurate or complete, or that any defects will be corrected.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AlexaMods Lab and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, ScanLens — including damages resulting from:
- Content obtained by scanning a QR code or barcode.
- Any website, service, or resource accessed by opening a scanned URL.
- Misuse of the app or reliance on inaccurate scan results.
- Loss of locally stored scan history.
- Advertising content served by Google AdMob.
Where liability cannot be fully excluded under applicable law, AlexaMods Lab's total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the app shall be limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid, if any, for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) a nominal amount, since ScanLens is provided free of charge.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AlexaMods Lab, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right in connection with your use of ScanLens.
You may stop using ScanLens and uninstall it at any time. We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or discontinue the app, or your access to it, at any time and without notice — for example, in response to a violation of these Terms, a legal requirement, or a decision to discontinue the app entirely. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply after termination.
AlexaMods Lab shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance under these Terms resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to Google Play platform outages, internet or network failures, natural disasters, acts of government, or other events of force majeure.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Subject to applicable mandatory consumer protection laws in your own country of residence, you agree that the courts located in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of ScanLens.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory right you may have to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence where such a right cannot be excluded by agreement under applicable local law.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions of these Terms shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and AlexaMods Lab regarding ScanLens, and supersede any prior agreements or understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the app.
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the app's functionality, legal requirements, or our practices. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, the version number in Section 31. Continued use of ScanLens after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
