01 Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Video Player All Format (package com.alexamodslabs.videoplayer), developed by AlexaMods Labs ("we," "us"), handles information when you use the app. Video Player All Format is, at its core, a local media player: its primary job is finding and playing video and audio files already stored on your device. This policy describes what the app accesses to do that, and separately, what limited information is processed by the third-party services the app uses for advertising and consent management.
02 Information the App Accesses
We draw a distinction between four different things, because they are not the same:
- Access — the app reads a file or setting on your device to function.
- Collection — information is retained beyond the moment it's used.
- Transmission — information leaves your device.
- Sharing — information is given to a third party.
Local playback features (finding videos, opening a file you selected, reading subtitles) involve access to your device's storage, but that information is not collected by us or transmitted to our servers — we do not operate a server that receives your media files. Separately, the advertising and consent SDKs described in Sections 7, 8, and 10 may process limited technical data for advertising and consent services.
03 Media and File Access
The app accesses video, audio, and subtitle files on your device so it can:
- Discover playable video and audio files stored on your device;
- Open and play a specific file you select, or one shared into the app from another app;
- Load subtitle files associated with a video;
- Build and maintain playlists and folders you create within the app;
- Support the app's file/folder browser so you can navigate your own storage.
This access is for local playback functionality only. It is not used to catalogue your files for advertising, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to playing your media.
04 Storage Permissions
The app uses Android's supported media and document access mechanisms to let you choose and play video, audio, and subtitle files stored on your device. Depending on your Android version and the action you take, access may be provided through the system media library, the Android file picker, or other runtime-granted media permissions.
- Scan and display media that Android makes available to the app;
- Open a file that you select or share with the app;
- Load subtitle files associated with a video; and
- Manage media that you explicitly choose to organize with the app.
Access to media and documents is used only for the playback and file-management features described above. Media files are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers.
05 Device Information
Some technical information about your device may be processed automatically by the Google Mobile Ads and consent-management SDKs used by the app. Depending on the SDK and your settings, this may include the advertising identifier, general device and OS information, app version, and information needed to serve, measure, and protect advertising.
06 Advertising
Video Player All Format displays advertisements, served through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Displaying ads involves technical and advertising-related data processing performed by Google and its advertising partners, which may include use of your advertising ID, general device information, and approximate location derived from IP address, for the purposes of ad delivery, frequency capping, and fraud prevention. We do not control, and are not directly given, the specific data Google's ad partners process — we recommend reviewing Google's own privacy resources linked in Section 7 for details.
07 Google Mobile Ads
The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to display advertising. Google's ad-serving processing is governed by Google's own privacy policies, not this one. For details on what Google and its partners may collect and how it's used, see:
08 Google UMP / Consent
The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present a consent form where required by applicable law (for example, under GDPR in the European Economic Area/UK, or similar frameworks elsewhere). Where this applies, you'll be asked to make choices about personalized versus non-personalized advertising before ads are shown, and you can typically revisit those choices from the app's settings.
09 Network Access
The app uses network access for: loading and displaying advertisements, and for consent management where applicable. Network access is not used to upload your video or audio files to any server operated by us — playback and file management remain local to your device.
10 Third-Party SDKs
The production release of the app includes the following third-party services that may process data off-device:
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — advertising delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related ad services. See Section 7.
- Google UMP — consent management for advertising. See Section 8.
The app also includes a number of open-source software components (media playback engines, UI and storage libraries) that run entirely on-device and do not themselves transmit your personal data off your device. These are listed in full, with license information, on our Open Source Licenses page.
11 Local Processing
The following happens entirely on your device and is not sent to us:
- Video and audio decoding and playback;
- Subtitle parsing and rendering;
- Scanning your storage to build the media library shown in the app;
- Playback history, resume position, and playlists;
- App preferences and settings;
- Private Vault contents and metadata (see Section 12).
12 Private Folder / Vault
The app includes an optional Private Vault feature that lets you move chosen media into an app-managed, protected area of local storage.
- Local control: vault media remains on your device, inside storage managed by the app; it is not uploaded to any server operated by us.
- Authentication: access to the vault can be protected using your device's biometric authentication (fingerprint/face) or a PIN/pattern, where you enable it.
- Encryption: vault files are kept in an app-private location that other apps cannot browse directly through normal Android file access. We do not claim vault contents are cryptographically encrypted at rest unless this has been separately verified for the release you're using — check the in-app security details or contact us for the current implementation.
- Notifications: the app avoids showing vault file names or thumbnails in system notifications.
- Backups: whether vault files are included in Android's automatic device backups depends on your device's backup settings; you can exclude the app from backups in your device settings if you prefer.
14 Data Retention
App preferences, playback history, playlists, bookmarks, and vault metadata are stored locally on your device for as long as the app is installed, or until you clear them from within the app or through your device's app storage settings. We do not operate a server-side account, so we do not retain this information on our own servers. Data processed by third-party SDKs (Sections 7, 8, 10) is retained according to those providers' own retention policies.
15 Data Deletion
Because the app does not use an online account system, there is no server-side account to delete. You can remove all locally stored app data at any time by:
- Clearing the app's storage/cache from Android Settings → Apps → Video Player All Format → Storage; or
- Uninstalling the app, which removes its local data from your device (subject to your device's backup settings).
To request information about data processed by Google's services, refer to the Google resources linked in Section 7, or contact us using the details in Section 20.
16 Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information the app processes, and to keep locally stored app data isolated within Android's normal app-sandboxing model. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
17 Children's Privacy
Video Player All Format is a general-audience media player and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The advertising SDK described in Section 7 is configured according to the app's Play Console audience and content settings; if you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us using Section 20.
18 Third-Party Services
Summarized from Section 10: the app's data-relevant third-party services are Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google UMP. On-device open-source libraries used for playback, storage, and UI do not independently transmit your personal data and are catalogued on the Open Source Licenses page.
19 Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the app's functionality or the third-party services it uses. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the app after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
